This is Ellen Claffey McHale's youngest daughter
Corning Iowa 9/11/1904
Miss Claire McHale and Ed F. Gauthier
were married Saturday morning at
St. Patrick's church Rev. Father B. J.
Sheridan saying the service. Over two
hundred guests witnessed the ceremony.
The wedding was one which has long
been anticipated and unites two of Corning's
most popular young people. The
bride has taught school for a number of
years in the' county and is classed among
the best teachers and is also a general
favorite among the young people. The
groom has for a number of years clerked
for the Andrews clothing house and is in
every sense a thorough gentleman. He
is to be congratulated upon his choice of
a wife, they will make their home
with Mr and Mrs. Denis Fox, uncle and
aunt of Mrs Gauthier, with whom she
has made her home all her life.- The
church was beautifully decorated with
chrysanthemums and palms and the
bridal pews were draped in white flowers
and white ribbon and enclosed with
heavy ropes of white cord. A large floral
arch, from which hung suspended a
beautiful silver wedding bell, was constructed
in front of the altar through
which the bridal party passed. Upon
their entrance at the church- they were
led by the ring Nearer, .little .four-year old
Vivian Thompson bearing the ring
on a small silver tray -which was decorated
with tiny white chrysanthemums.
Following'were the groomsman Thomas
MaGrath and the bridesmaid, Miss
Mayine Gauthier, followed by the bride
and groom, who slowly marched to the
altar to the music of Mendelssohn's
wedding march rendered by Miss Bertha
Chapman. Rev. Father Sheridan met
them and said the marriage ceremony,
using the ring service. They left immediately
for the bride's home where
the guests were entertained at a fine
dinner. The table decorations were
bride's roses and white ribbon. The
bride was gowned in a beautiful champagne
lace and voile made over champagne
silk, fancifully trimmed in ribbon
and medallions with hat to match. She
carried a lovely bouquet of bride's roses.
The maid of honor wore a champagne
mohair gown becomingly trimmed. The
little ring bearer was dressed in a dainty
white Persian lawn trimmed in white
satin ribbon and insertion. The ushers
were Dan Mack and Arthur Colgan.
One of the pleasant features of the day
was the celebration of the golden wedding
of the bride's uncle and aunt, Mr.
and Mrs. Denis Fox. The following day
a reception was given at the home of
the grooms parents, Mr. and Mra. A. B.
Gauthier, in Mercer township at which
nearly one hundred guests were present.
Mr. and Mrs. Gauthier received many
beautiful and useful presents. Congratulations
are extended to them by their
many friends. The guests from a distance
were Mr. and Mrs. F. A. Fox,
Council Bluffs; Mr. and Mrs. C. C. Oakes,
Emerson; Mrs. G. M. Fox and son, Master
George, Omaha; Charles Fox and
daughter, Miss Angela. Omaha; Mr. and
Mrs. George Davidson and daughter, Miss
Anna, and Mrs. Mac McDonald, Creston;
Miss Rose McGovern, Chariton. They
also attended the golden wedding reception
of Mr. and Mrs. Denis Fox.
