William Claffey of Santy, Dublin, Ireland

The death has occurred of William (Bill) Claffey of Santry, Dublin, Ireland
CLAFFEY, Santry Dublin, June 8th 2010 (peacefully) at home. William (Bill) in his 90th year (Late British Army and C.I.E.) dearly beloved husband of Julia, and much loved and treasured Dad of Patricia and Jean. Very sadly missed by his loving wife and daughters, son-in-law, Glenn, sisters-in-law, nephews, nieces, extended family, friends and neighbors. R.I.P. Reposing at Lanigan's Funeral Home, Beaumont Road. Removal on Saturday morning to the Church of The Holy Child, Swords Road, Whitehall, arriving at 11 o'clock for funeral Mass at 11:15. Burial afterwards in Dardistown Cemetery. No flowers please, donations if desired to St. Francis Hospice, Raheny.

NOTE: The above Bill Claffey was the son of Daniel William Claffey who married Jane Arthurs from Dublin. They had one other child, Patrick, deceased, who lived in Southampton. Patrick was a Merchant Seaman. His son Liam and daughter Jacqueline still live in Southampton.

Daniel William Claffey was born 1 Jan 1873, Kildare, Ireland, enlisted at Welshpool in 2nd Battalion, South Wales Borderers at age 14 in 1887. Regimental Number 2159. Died in Ireland. His wife, Jane Arthurs Claffey, per census when she was 16 years old, lived on Watling St. Usher's Quay, Dublin, was born in Dublin City, Roman Catholic, occupation fruit dealer, could read and write.
